What is the cost of dealing with partners you can’t trust? Shareholder disputes are hard for all the people involved, especially for the closed corporation or corporation laced with family members as the shareholders.
The controlling business partners often use the company money to pay for their personal luxuries, treating the company’s bank account as their piggy bank. Sometimes, the controlling partners withhold information from you, particularly the company’s financial information, and have no intention to be transparent about their dealing with the company’s finances.
If I have just described what you are currently experiencing in a business partnership, the question to ask yourself is if you are willing to continue with this relationship, knowing your partners are not honest and not transparent. Our brief answer is often that there are no good reasons, and if you do come up with some, you are probably in denial.
I think you owe it to yourself and your family to find out how you can end this relationship amicably before the relationship has passed the point of no return and is beyond repair.
